About THE ARTIST

Hello.  My name is Debra J McClain and I am the artist behind DJ's Watercolor.  

Creativity has always been a part of my journey, but discovering watercolor painting in my later years is what transformed my life.  I was immediately drawn to the vibrance, transparency, and movement of the pigment.  Watercolor has a life of it's own, which excites for me.

To refine and develop my skills, I committed to more than three years of study with acclaimed watercolor artist, David J Rogers of Morro Bay, CA.  Under his mentorship, along with commitment and dedication,  I developed my artistic style and gained the confidence to flourish as a professional artist.  Since then, I have launched my website, completed numerous custom commissions, and I participate in six to eight art events each year - where I truly enjoy connecting with people who visit my booth.

I believe deeply in the transformative power of art, as  watercolor re-energized my spirit while deepening my appreciation of God - the ultimate Creator.  I find great joy as I paint, but also as I encourage others to explore watercolor and have fun in discovering and unleashing their artistic creativity.
